Topping up the maternity pack from your health insurer

Many Dutch health insurers give a maternity pack with the basic supplies. Check with your own insurer what is included. What you need on top of that for your own recovery is here: compresses, a peri bottle, extra maternity pads and mesh knickers.

Complete recovery set

The Postpartum Herstelset is the complete pack: a peri bottle, a perineal compress, breast compresses and maternity pads. If you only want relief below and above, the Hot & Cold Herstel Duo is the smaller choice: a perineal compress and two breast compresses, with washable covers.

Cold and warm compress after giving birth

The gel compresses work warm and cold. Cold relieves swelling, pain and tenderness; warmth helps the let-down reflex. The covers are washable, so the compresses last the whole postpartum period.
